An Anti-oppression View Towards Transcribing and Archiving Black Narrators
It all began with the suggestion to offer a virtual workshop during the pandemic. Working from home, I’d been largely relegated to tasks that could be done remotely, such as transcription work. I was struck with an idea to discuss an issue I was currently facing in transcribing the oral histories at my job.
I developed a three hour workshop based on various resources and reference material that turned into a great success. I took the slides and script from that workshop and edited them into what eventually became the first chapter in a book about the importance of representative archives.
